It is rather relaxing to go out at the end of the day and just take in the birds. It is fun to watch them run about, especially in the evening when they get really excited by chasing beetles about for a pre-bedtime treat. But there is that other bit that comes with having various kinds of birds. The eggs!
The khaki campbells and the pekins have been laying for a while now, to the point that it isn’t odd for us to collect up a dozen duck eggs in a single day. But more recently some of the chickens have started to lay eggs. Now I particularly picked these kinds of chickens to have eggs that were not white, so they would be easy to tell from the duck eggs.
In case you are wondering, the duck eggs tend to be noticeably bigger, especially the pekin’s. But it is pretty fun to go about the yard and hunt eggs only to find some that are colorful. I may have to look into tracking down a few more colors, perhaps I can find some that will lay a nice chocolate brown color. Anyway, I’ll close out by sharing a photo of some of the different shades of eggs that we’ve got from the chickens.
